Factors that impact price:
Style - Realism? A style that follows the canon of a particular show? My own personal cartoony style? If the style requested makes the piece much easier or harder to complete, the price will be adjusted accordingly.
Poses - A single character standing up is far simpler to complete than a group in an interactive scenario.
Polishing - Sketches will typically run very low price-wise. The more detailed and finished you want your piece, the higher the price.
Content - An obvious one. More characters = mo' money. Graphic situations, be it sexual or violent, will also cost more, and such requests may be denied at the artist's discretion. (No money will be exchanged in a situation where the art isn't completed, of course.)
All prices are negotiable. Send me a note and we will talk about it.
Examples of my work and what it would cost to commission something similar, taking into account the four points above:
= Increases price
= Lowers Price
SOUTH PARK CANON STYLE /DYNAMIC POSES /SKETCH / 5 CHARACTERS - $10Between the style and the unfinished "sketch" level of polishing, the price is significantly lowered compared to other work with numerous characters and dynamic poses.
SOUTH PARK CANON STYLE /DYNAMIC POSES /COMPLETE WITH COLOR /29 CHARACTERS - $60This took me a long time to make. I doubt anybody would purchase something with this many characters in it, and as you can see, I'm not completely sure what I would do about pricing in this situation. We would do a lot of talking to fix a price for something like this.
MY STYLE / SIMPLE POSE / SKETCH / 1 CHARACTER - $3
MY STYLE / DYNAMIC POSES / POLISHED WITH COLOR, SHADING, ETC. / 2 CHARACTERS - $30This would be less expensive if there wasn't so much work put into the atmospheric lighting. If the lighting was normal, it would be priced at about $20.
RICK AND MORTY CANON STYLE / DYNAMIC POSES / POLISHED WITH COLOR / NO BACKGROUND / 5 CHARACTERS - $45HYBRID PERSONAL-CANON STYLE / SIMPLE POSE / SKETCHY AND COLORED / 1 CHARACTER - $12Anyway, school starts up for me this Thursday, January 25. I'm not sure how much time I will have for commissions at that point, but I wanted to put something out here to refer to if something commission-wise comes up.
